Kanzanji Onsen opened in 1958. Since then, it has become well-known in Japan as Lake Hamanako's largest hot spring resort. The therapeutic hot spring waters are believed to be beneficial for various health problems, including neuralgia, muscle pain, stomach ailments, cold sensitivity, and fatigue. Some popular new spots are the foot bath (ashiyu), Ukimido Pavilion, and Kanzanji walking trails.
