The Nakamuras were a powerful family who built their residence in the local area in 1483. In 1568, Nakamura Masakichi (the 18th generation) began serving under Tokugawa Ieyasu. The main house built in 1688 is designated a National Important Cultural Property. From 2001 to 2003, the building was dismantled then restored to its original glory.
