Speaking of Hamamatsu City and Kosai City, Lake Hamana is a brackish lake where seawater and freshwater mix! In addition to the calm water surface conditions compared to the sea, the region’s characteristic warm climate and long sunshine hours are suitable for sea leisure, and marine sports have long been popular here. Furthermore, there are local manufacturers of marine products such as SUZUKI, YAMAHA, and HONDA, so you can rest assured that the facilities are well-equipped.
This time, I went to try some recommended marine sports at Bellmarine in Kosai City. At the same facility, which has facilities and shops for marine products, as well as rentals and schools, Sea Lake HAMANA Jenne has taken on the challenge of creating the “Big Marble,” a sofa-type vehicle that uses centrifugal force. A marine sport that allows you to fly high into the air using the jet power of a French-born personal watercraft called a “flyboard”! ! To what extent can you enjoy HAMANA Jenne, a sea lake you have never experienced before? !
First, we tried “Big Marble”. An activity where you can enjoy the feeling of speed and centrifugal force by pulling a personal watercraft. Sea Lake HAMANA Jenne is also filled with anticipation and is finally starting! It feels so good to feel the breeze of Lake Hamana while looking at the magnificent scenery under the blue sky. Then, the instructor gradually increased the speed. Since the line of sight is low, the speed felt fast, and Jenne and her friends screamed as they were splashed with water.
The girls gradually move in a curved line, and the centrifugal force that is the real thrill of the Big Marble hits them. I cling desperately to avoid being thrown off, but my body floats every time I ride a wave. The loud screams echo in the natural surroundings of Lake Hamana, and the sense of thrill is felt by those watching. There was one scene where they were thrown into the lake, but the smiles on their faces at the end of the ride spoke volumes about the appeal of this activity. It’s a sofa-type boat that seats 4 people, and the speed can be adjusted so even small children can ride it! An activity recommended for families.
“Flyboarding” is one of the activities that has received a lot of attention in recent years. It floats in the air using water pressure, allowing you to easily enjoy a walk in the sky. It is surprising that advanced users can levitate nearly 10 meters! On this day, I was able to watch a demonstration by Mr. Kansuke Suzuki, the instructor and champion of the All Japan Flyboard Championship, and as expected, the professional technique was exceptional. Just soaring high into the air is impressive, but he also performed a number of tricks that included somersaults and other rotations.
It really looks like a TV hero flying in the sky… Sea Lake HAMANA Jenne was also cheering, her eyes shining with excitement as she imagined flying in the sky.
Now, let’s get started! Flyboarding may seem difficult at first glance, but once you get the hang of it, it’s surprisingly easy. One Jenne was able to lift her entire body above the surface of the lake on the first try. You can immediately feel the joy of “flyboarding”. On this day, everyone was able to float off the surface of the lake in 15 to 30 minutes. It is said that the more times you do it, the more you will be able to fly higher and spin, and more and more people are getting hooked on the fun and coming back again and again. In the summer, it’s easy to do in your swimsuit, and it’s not affected by the weather, so it’s sure to become a popular activity in the future.

“We want you to eat delicious food” Hamamatsu Power Food’s popular “Charcoal and Sake Bonzaru”
Have you ever heard of the term “Hamamatsu Power Food”?
“Hamamatsu Power Food” is seasonal ingredients and dishes harvested in the Hamamatsu/Lake Hamana area.
It is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu, who spent 17 years in Hamamatsu and later became a ruler of Japan, supported the rise of Tokugawa Ieyasu through the region’s rich food, including seafood from Lake Hamana.
The Hamamatsu/Lake Hamana area is known for its long sunshine hours and warm climate. It is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu once loved Tokugawa Ieyasu’s food culture, which was nurtured by its rich marine resources and diverse soil.
Among them, we visited Bonzaru, a restaurant that serves many nutritious dishes such as soft-shelled turtle, blowfish, and eel, and spoke to the owner, Takahiro Hakamada.
