About Nukumori no Mori

Nukumori no Mori was originally created around 30 years ago by Mr. Shigeyoshi Sasaki, an architect from Hamamatsu, as a combined architectural workshop and model house.

Scattered throughout the grounds are small, charming buildings designed in a distinctive European style.

Features like the “scaly rooftops,” with each rounded tile carefully shaped, add to the storybook-like atmosphere of the village.

Every building is picture-perfect from any angle, and even the plants and greenery—carefully arranged by hand—have been thoughtfully designed to match the gentle, fairy tale-like atmosphere of Nukumori no Mori.

At Nukumori no Mori, there are nine photo stands placed around the grounds at the best spots for pictures.

They make it easy to find the perfect composition and snap great photos with your smartphone—no guesswork needed!

Nukumori no Mori is popular with visitors of all ages, and recently, thanks to the rising trend of “cafe culture among men,” the number of male guests has been increasing.

You can relax and unwind in the peaceful surroundings, or enjoy a leisurely stroll as if on a journey—maybe even with your favorite goods in hand. There are many ways to enjoy your time here.

A Guide to the Highlights of Nukumori no Mori

Nukumori no Mori is a small village covering about 720 tsubo (approximately 2,400 square meters), with 13 shops scattered throughout the area.

With so many charming photo spots and buildings to explore, time flies by quickly—so it’s a good idea to plan for about two hours to fully enjoy your visit.

We recommend visiting with plenty of time to spare.

Admission tickets can be purchased at the information desk on weekdays, and from the parking lot ticket machines on weekends.

At the Nukumori Galleria, you can learn about the 30-year history of how Nukumori no Mori was created through an engaging video presentation.

Staff members also guide visitors through the founder’s former residence, the salon, and the cave area that showcases unique architectural techniques.

Exploring Nukumori no Mori with an understanding of the passion behind its buildings and the unique, one-of-a-kind treasures that fill the space might let you see the scenery in a whole new light.

Inside the Galleria, there’s a cozy terrace with a lovely view of the courtyard where you can relax and unwind.

At the petite café “Cache-Cache” inside the Nukumori Galleria, you can easily order takeaway-style refreshments.

You’re free to enjoy your food and drinks wherever you like—whether it’s in the salon, on the terrace, or even in the back of the cave area inside the Galleria.

The “Forest Cheesecake Shop” was born from the renovation of a space the founder once used as a garage.

The shop, with its warm brick exterior, offers light meals including spoonable bottle cheesecakes that you can enjoy on the spot.

The bottle cheesecakes are made with carefully selected, high-quality ingredients.

Made with cream cheese and fresh cream from Hokkaido, these safe and trustworthy bottle cheesecakes contain no preservatives or artificial colorings.

There are six flavors to choose from, perfect for whatever mood you’re in.

Kanzanji strawberries, Mikabi mandarins, and Hamamatsu blueberries are all locally sourced, made with produce grown right here in Hamamatsu.

The most popular choice is the “Rich Cheese Cake.”

You can enjoy these sweets relaxing inside the shop or in the courtyard, and they also make a delightful souvenir.

If you eat in, you can return your bottle at the collection point and exchange it for a cleaned one.

The cute designs make these bottles perfect not only for sweets but also as charming little containers or home décor.

 

The café also offers a wide variety of menu options.

When you hear “Mori no Cheesecake Shop,” you might think it’s just a sweets-only place, but they also serve café-style light meals like stews, pizzas, and pastas.

Plus, there’s a great value “Forest Picnic Set” that includes bread, soup, and cheesecake.

Their most popular dish is the beef stew, packed with hearty chunks of beef and vegetables.

La Cachette

La Cachette, marked by a waterwheel atop a small hill in front of the Galleria, is a shop that offers flowers and greenery tailored to your lifestyle.

Inside the shop, you’ll find plants and flowers that add color to everyday life, along with botanical-themed home décor and handmade crafts.

The shop is filled with adorable little items that will naturally make you say, “So cute!”

Among the items, handmade accessories crafted by the shop owner’s daughter stand out.

Featuring motifs that evoke the changing seasons, these pieces are popular with people of all ages.

Aroma Fairy

Located on the first floor of a cottage beyond the courtyard, which you reach by passing through an archway reminiscent of a Western castle entrance, is the “Aroma Fairy.

When you open the door, a soothing aroma gently fills the interior of the shop.

The shop offers a wide selection of natural essential oils carefully chosen from around the world, along with a variety of gentle, nature-inspired scented products.

The original special blends that capture the unique atmosphere of Nukumori no Mori come in five varieties: Komorebi Blend, Hidamari Blend, Hanadoki Blend, Saezuri Blend, and Harutsuchi Blend.

The most popular is the Komorebi Blend.

This essential oil features a gentle scent of herbs and flowers, perfect for relaxing or winding down before bedtime.

Knowledgeable staff are available in the shop to answer any questions you may have about aromatherapy.

Facilities and Services at Nukumori no Mori

Since Nukumori no Mori utilizes buildings that were originally used as residences, please note that the facility, including building entrances and interiors, has stairs, steps, and narrow passages, and is not fully accessible for wheelchair users or those needing barrier-free access.

Nursing rooms are available upon request.

If you would like to use one, please inquire at the information desk near the entrance.

Restrooms are located inside the Galleria: to the left when facing Aroma no Sei, and on the right side along the path just past La Cachette.

These restrooms have a charming mushroom-like shape that makes you want to stop by and use them!

Also, there is an area within Nukumori no Mori where you can enter with your beloved dog.

Crowd Information for "Nukumori no Mori"

Nukumori no Mori is a popular spot with fans from all over Japan, so we recommend visiting on a weekday for a more relaxed experience.

There are fewer people around, so you can take photos from all sorts of angles without worrying about crowds.

It tends to get busier on Saturday afternoons and throughout the day on Sundays. Crowds are also common during peak seasons like spring break, Golden Week, the Obon holidays, and the New Year period.
