More than just fruit picking! This park offers fun activities, camping and glamping, plus plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors…

This time, we visited Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, a leisure facility located in Miyakoda‑cho, Hamana Ward, Hamamatsu City.

The park spans an area about nine times the size of the Tokyo Dome and is divided into two main zones: the West Area, where you can enjoy various activities, and the East Area, famous for seasonal fruit picking.

In the West Area, small and medium-sized dogs are welcome with prior registration.

The park is packed with exciting facilities like restaurants, a winery, and camping and glamping sites.

Let’s dive right in and take a closer look!

What kind of place is Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika?

Hamamatsu Fruit Park opened in October 1996 with the goal of promoting fruit farming and creating a fun recreational space themed around fruit.

The park serves as an interactive facility where visitors can learn accurate information about fruits, see exhibits of new varieties and cultivation techniques, and experience fruit farming firsthand by seeing, touching, tasting, and studying the growth of fruit trees.

Since April 2013, the park has been managed by Tokinosumika Co., Ltd. as the designated administrator, and was renamed Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika.

Various events are held throughout the year, making the park an even more exciting and attractive place to visit.

A Guide to Highlights of Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika

The East Area is the zone where you can enjoy fruit picking.

Since the park is quite large, we recommend getting around by the park’s “Choo-Choo Train” or by renting a bicycle.

You can also rent bicycles for 1 to 4 people, Segways, E-Bikes, and mountain bikes.

The rental desk is located near the observation deck parking lot by the “Choo-Choo Train” station.

The West Area offers a variety of activities and facilities that everyone can enjoy, from kids to adults. Here you’ll find a restaurant serving authentic wood-fired pizza, barbecue facilities, and a winery—the only fruit wine producer in western Shizuoka Prefecture.

Here’s a detailed map of the park:

East Area|Fruit Picking Available from Just One Piece

The East Area is home to fruit-picking orchards where you can harvest around 15 different kinds of fruit throughout the year.

At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, you can pick as little as one piece of your favorite fruit.

Since the harvested fruit is sold by weight, it’s great for those who want to enjoy a little bit of many different kinds.

From winter through spring, you can pick strawberries. Early summer brings cherries and peaches, while summer offers blueberries, grapes, and pears. In autumn, enjoy mandarins, persimmons, kiwis, and more—letting you experience the flavors of each season.

At the entrance, you’ll find a sign showing “Today’s Harvest Experience,” so be sure to check it out before you start!

In addition to the classic fruits, you can also find some unique varieties like jabuticaba—a rare fruit native to Brazil—green papaya, and fresh shiitake mushrooms grown on logs.

Why not fully enjoy fruit picking while experiencing the changing seasons?

West Area|Authentic Wood-Fired Pizza at the Pizza Kitchen

The West Area has restaurants where you can enjoy delicious meals. Among them, the highlight is the authentic wood-fired pizza at the Pizza Kitchen.

Baked at a high temperature in a short time, the pizza has a beautiful golden crust, a deliciously toasty aroma, and a wonderfully chewy texture.

It features a crispy outside and a soft, chewy inside.

Each pizza is made to order, with the dough stretched and topped just before baking, so you can enjoy it fresh and piping hot.

The most popular choice is the Margherita, while the basil-scented Genovese is a hit with women.

The Four Cheese pizza pairs perfectly with honey, and there are also seasonal pizzas to choose from—making it hard to decide which one to try!

Spread Across East and West Areas|Camping Facilities

Since July 2018, the Fruit Park has added camping facilities, and more visitors are enjoying staying overnight to fully experience the park.
