Lake Hamana is a sea lake facing the vast Enshu Sea, where seawater flows between Hamamatsu City and Kosai City. Takiya fishing is a traditional fishing method that has been practiced in this area for over 100 years. This traditional fishing method, passed down among local fishermen, is carried out using two tools: a cover net and a goad. Crabs, black sea bream, and other prey that live in Lake Hamana are caught by scooping them up with a net or poking them with a harpoon.
Of course, it is not something that amateurs can easily catch by going to the field. However, local fishermen will select points based on their many years of experience and intuition, taking into account daily conditions such as the season, wind direction, and tide, and will lead participants to where the fish are. Use an underwater light to illuminate the bottom of a shallow lake and look for fish underwater. The surprise of finding your prey and the thrill of actually catching it are irresistible.
On this day, the local information dissemination team “Sea Lake HAMANA Jenne” is finally leaving!
“Takiya fishing” has finally begun. The boat carrying the “Sea Lake HAMANA Jenne” and the others sailed through Lake Hamana as the sun set, and temporarily anchored near Benten Island. Wait until it gets dark while watching the beautiful sunset and feeling the majestic nature with your body.
Fishing starts when it gets dark! When I was staring at the lake illuminated by the light of the underwater lamp, I saw fish! !
As expected, they weren’t able to catch it right away, and the ship was filled with voices of disappointment, saying, “Ah, we missed!”
However, this is also part of the fun of fishing. As they continue to challenge themselves while struggling with the harpoons and nets, they gradually get used to the challenge and catch prey one after another. On this day, the most common items were crab and sea bream! ! There was even a woman who caught a big fish close to 30 cm…
You can also harvest a wide variety of squid, octopus, conger eel, and more, and experience the richness of the ocean lake, which is home to 800 types of creatures. What a great catch! ! !
After fishing, toast on the raft floating on the lake! The fishermen will cook the seafood they caught themselves using their own practiced techniques. Freshly fried shrimp tempura and fresh crab are tossed into a pot and boiled. In addition, dishes such as sea bream, conger eel, and squid are fried or grilled, and are brought to the table one after another. You can even bring in drinks for free! If you bring in vegetables and rice, you can have a luxurious dinner! On this day, I brought chilled Hamamatsu gyoza and Abysse from the local Hananomai Sake Brewery. Eating the bounty of Lake Hamana on the lake is an indescribably luxurious and extraordinary experience. Please be careful not to drink too much on the lake…
A great experience that can only be had at Lake Hamana, where you can catch your own fish and eat it deliciously while feeling the nature. I highly recommend it for your summer plans.
