The Akiha Fire Festival takes place at Akiha Shrine and Shuyoji Temple. Akiha Shrine is particularly famous for its bow dance and sword dance, followed by a fire dance that involves twirling a flaming torch. A Goma ritual—large sticks that are set aflame and rise into the night sky with the flames—and fire-walking are ancient customs that take place at Shuyoji Temple attracting numerous visitors.
