Blueberries reach their peak season in early summer, from June to August.
Did you know that you can go blueberry picking in Hamamatsu too?
This time, we visited Sato Farm “Aoi Tori” in Miyakoda, Hamana-ku, Hamamatsu City, which is also featured on Yaramai-ka Tourism.

A plan that includes a 30-minute blueberry picking experience and an original gelato with blueberries.
You can enjoy the blueberries you pick on the spot, and you can also take home one pack.
This time, we visited Sato Farm “Aoitotori” in Miyakoda, Hamana Ward, Hamamatsu City, which is also featured on Yaramai-ka Tourism.

At “Aoi Tori,” blueberry picking is held every year from late May to early August.
With 20 different varieties of blueberries grown here, you can enjoy delicious berries at any time during the season.
After checking in, you’ll receive a pack for souvenirs and head into the greenhouse.
All the blueberries are grown inside the greenhouse.
On sunny days, the sunlight can feel strong, but you can borrow a large straw hat at the farm.
I borrowed one too, and it really adds to the farm experience♪

Since there’s a roof, you can enjoy it even if it rains without getting wet, which is a nice bonus.
First, the farm manager, Mr. Sato, guided us through the greenhouse and taught us how to pick blueberries, about rare varieties, and which ones are the most delicious.

Blueberries that are fully colored in clusters are ripe and ready to eat.
Mr. Sato says he checks the taste himself every day to ensure they’re perfect.

After receiving a thorough lesson from Mr. Sato, it’s finally time to start blueberry picking!
At “Aoi Tori,” you can pick any blueberries you like from the spacious greenhouse.
When you compare them, you’ll find everything from super sweet berries to those with a balanced tartness, and the size and flavor vary depending on the variety and the bush.
We walked around the greenhouse, searching for our favorite bushes♪

We found a bush with big, plump berries!
I was amazed to see blueberries this big!
When you think of blueberries, you usually imagine purple ones, but there were also cute pink blueberries.
While walking around the farm, we spotted a blue bird perched on a bush!
In keeping with the farm’s name, “Aoi Tori,” they say spotting this blue bird brings happiness♡
* Japanese”Aoi” = Blue, Japanese”Tori”=bird

The blue bird is said to always be somewhere on the farm, so be sure to look out for it!
You can also pick your own blueberries to take home, and as long as the cup lid closes, you can choose any berries you like.
I filled my cup with some large blueberries and even a few pink ones♪
How about enjoying some gelato after your blueberry picking?

This original gelato is made with the large blueberries harvested at “Aoi Tori.”
The blueberry and milk flavors blend perfectly—so delicious!!
We enjoyed it in the rest area in front of the hydrangeas, which were just in full bloom♪
Surrounded by beautiful hydrangeas, it’s truly relaxing.

They also offer smoothies and shaved ice, perfect for hot summer days.

Shaved ice is limited to just 20 servings per day!

The farm’s homemade blueberry jam is also highly recommended♪
The packaging featuring the blue bird and blueberries is adorable too♡

You may have heard that blueberries are good for your eyes.
The purple pigment anthocyanin is said to help relieve eye strain.
If your eyes feel tired, blueberries might help ease the strain.

Blueberries also contain various types of polyphenols with antioxidant properties, which are said to help prevent adult diseases by reducing arteriosclerosis and suppressing LDL cholesterol.
Since you can eat them with the skin, they’re also high in dietary fiber.
They help support a healthy gut, making them great for digestive health too.
Blueberries are also rich in vitamin C and vitamin E.
Vitamin E is rare in fruits, making them a must for healthy, glowing skin♡
Blueberries aren’t just delicious—they’re also beneficial for your health and beauty.
