“Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika” Filled with Exciting Activities

This time, we visited Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, located in Miyakoda-cho, Hamana Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

“Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika” is a fruit-themed park featuring a wide range of activities across its vast grounds, which cover an area equivalent to nine Tokyo Domes. Visitors can enjoy fruit picking, camping, glamping, and more.

In fact, this popular spot is said to offer glamping experiences that are both easy and affordable to enjoy.

To find out if the rumors were true, we visited the park and tried glamping for ourselves!

Glamping guests first pay their accommodation fee at the entrance, then check in at the on-site restaurant “Perle.”

This was actually my first time trying solo glamping! Since I am not very familiar with outdoor activities, I was feeling a little nervous…

Check-in starts at 3:00 PM.

During check-in, guests receive detailed information about the park and important points to keep in mind during their stay, so even first-time glampers or solo travelers can feel at ease.

And this is where I stayed this time!

It was a cotton glamping tent from the long-established outdoor brand NORDISK. The simple yet stylish design instantly lifted my spirits.

Inside the tent, there were two beds set up.

This was my first solo glamping experience, and I was impressed to find that both the tent and beds were already prepared! The tent was spacious, and the lighting inside made it look comfortable to spend time there even at night.

At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, in addition to glamping tents for two adults, there are also larger tents that can accommodate around three to five adults.

The tents are also fully equipped with a refrigerator and power outlets.

You can charge your smartphone and camera, making it possible to enjoy the feeling of being outdoors while also experiencing the comfort of staying in what feels like a hotel.

The tent I stayed in was located in the Dream Dinosaur Plaza, home to dinosaur displays. Right beside the tent, impressive dinosaurs greeted us!

Their realistic appearance is sure to delight both children and adults alike.

Visit Western Shizuoka’s First Winery

After checking in and leaving your luggage in the tent, take some time to explore the park. One recommended stop is the Tropical Wine Curve.

The Tropical Wine Curve is the first winery in western Shizuoka with its own wine production facilities. Here, you’ll find a wide selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages, including original wines produced at Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika as well as wines from around the world.

The tasting corner is a great place to sample any wines that catch your eye.

This time, I picked up a bottle of Fruit Park Wine and a Mikkabi Mikan Pack Wine to enjoy with the BBQ dinner.

A Satisfying BBQ Feast with Meat and Seafood

After exploring the park, I returned to the tent to find the BBQ grill already set up beside it.

The staff take care of preparing the grill and charcoal, making it a great perk for anyone new to outdoor activities.

At the dinner time I had selected during check-in, the staff brought over the BBQ set.

The BBQ set included a generous selection of meat, seafood, and vegetables. It also came with drinks (orange juice and oolong tea) and freshly cooked white rice.

As the sun gradually set, I enjoyed a leisurely BBQ dinner together with the wine I had picked up earlier.

After dinner, the staff also took care of cleaning up the BBQ grill and tableware.

Even though it was my first solo glamping trip, the attentive service from the staff made my stay relaxing, comfortable, and worry-free.

Relax and Unwind at the High-Carbonated Spring “Tombo no Yu”

Even when you’re enjoying the outdoors on a glamping trip, one thing you’ll probably be wondering is whether there are bathing facilities.

At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, glamping guests can use Biotope Tombo no Yu, an on-site bathing facility featuring a high-carbonated spring.

Guests staying overnight receive two admission tickets to Tombo no Yu, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath on the evening of your stay as well as a morning bath the next day.

The spacious washing area is equipped with amenities such as body soap, shampoo, and conditioner, making it easy to wash away the day’s fatigue.

Bath and face towels are also included, so there’s no need to pack your own.

Amenities such as hairbrushes, skincare products, and toothbrushes are also available.

With services like these, you might even forget you’re staying at a glamping site!

After soaking in the high-carbonated spring, I felt completely refreshed, both physically and mentally.

Enjoy Winter Illuminations and a Spectacular Fountain Show

Glamping may be most often associated with summer, but Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika is also a great destination during the winter season.

One of the biggest reasons is its spectacular winter illuminations.

From late October through the end of January, the park hosts its annual Winter Illumination event. (Please check the official website for the latest schedule and event details.)

One of the highlights is the 130-meter-long Tunnel of Light, which looks like a scene from a movie. Surrounded by cascading lights, it’s hard not to stop and admire the beautiful display.

The Fountain Plaza also hosts a fountain show featuring synchronized lights and music.

One of the largest fountain illumination shows in Japan, it offers an unforgettable performance of light, water, and music.

After enjoying a full day exploring the park, visiting the winery, savoring a BBQ dinner, relaxing in the carbonated spring, and taking in the illuminations and fountain show, it was finally time to head back to the tent for a good night’s sleep.

Start Your Morning with a Japanese and Western-Style Breakfast Buffet

Day two begins with breakfast. Guests can enjoy a buffet-style meal at the on-site restaurant Perle.

The buffet offers a wide selection of both Japanese and Western dishes, making it hard to decide what to try first. There’s also a well-stocked salad bar.

The dessert corner features a generous selection of fruit, sweets, and jelly.

Both rice and bread are available, so you can choose whichever you prefer.

After breakfast, I spent a little more time relaxing in the tent before getting ready to check out.

Check-out is at 10:00 AM. Just like check-in, simply stop by the reception desk at Perle to complete the check-out process.

Fruit Picking Is a Great Choice for Day Two!

Even after checking out, guests staying at Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika can continue enjoying the activities available throughout the park.

A highlight for the second day is the park’s main activity: seasonal fruit picking!

After moving from the West Area, where the glamping tents are located, to the East Area with the orchards, you’ll find the Tropical Train waiting to take you to the fruit orchards with free transportation.

I quickly boarded the Tropical Train and headed through the East Area.

The East Area features vast orchards where visitors can harvest around 15 types of fruit throughout the year.

When I visited in late October for this article, it was the season for both mandarin orange picking and persimmon picking.

I got off the Tropical Train in front of the mandarin orange orchard and started my mandarin orange picking experience!

At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, fruit picking is available even for just one piece of fruit. Since the harvested fruit is weighed and charged based on the amount picked, it is also a great option for those who want to enjoy a variety of fruits in small amounts.

The mandarin orange orchard was filled with beautifully colored early-season mandarin oranges.

At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika, three varieties of early-season mandarins are grown, known for their rich sweetness and easy-to-eat qualities.

In the neighboring persimmon orchard, sweet Jiro persimmons, originally from Mori Town in Shizuoka Prefecture, were also growing.

Fruit picking under the blue sky, surrounded by nature, is a unique outdoor activity that lets you enjoy a refreshing and open atmosphere.
