[Play] Tourist spots

Without further ado, we will introduce two recommended sightseeing spots near the station.

1.Hamamatsu City Musical Instrument Museum

Let’s start with Hamamatsu City Musical Instrument Museum, the first public musical instrument museum in Japan!

Easy access, about a 10 minute walk northeast from the north exit of JR Hamamatsu Station.

The Musical Instrument Museum has four exhibition rooms, an experience room, a workshop area, a museum shop, and a restaurant and cafe.

When you step into the building, you are greeted by a large gold-colored percussion instrument called “Sain Wine,” a Myanmar percussion instrument.

The exhibition room displays a variety of musical instruments not only from Japan but from all over the world.

I can’t stop being excited by all the instruments I’ve never seen before!

Furthermore, in the experience room, you can actually touch and make sounds with unique musical instruments such as drums, percussion instruments, and somatic instruments from overseas.

Why not enjoy music casually at the Hamamatsu City Musical Instrument Museum, where you can see, listen, and even experience it?

2.Hamamatsu Science Museum Miraira

Next up is Hamamatsu Science Museum, which you can enjoy even on rainy days!

Divided into themes such as nature, light, space, force, and sound, this hands-on museum features more than 100 interactive exhibits.

It’s a place where both adults and children can explore and enjoy without ever getting bored.

There are also exhibits of the latest technology from 11 local companies and universities, and one of the attractions is that you can experience the “manufacturing town of Hamamatsu” for yourself.

For example, there are attractions where you can drive cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. while watching a monitor, and exhibits where you can learn about the nature of sound and how it can be heard while playing with special equipment, and there are so many things that will make you fall in love with it!

In addition, in the “Space Zone,” you can also have futuristic experiences such as entering the aquarium of the elementary particle neutrino observation device “Super-Kamiokande” using VR goggles and observing the moment when neutrinos light up.

There is also a planetarium that can recreate a realistic starry sky and a cafe where you can take a break, making it a recommended spot to have fun regardless of the weather.

[See] Act City Hamamatsu

Act City Hamamatsu is a symbolic building in Hamamatsu City!

There are concert halls and event halls of various sizes, a training center, various offices, restaurants, and the Okura Hotel.

Most people go depending on their purpose, In fact, there are some places that are surprisingly unknown.

Chopin’s Hill is located in the Act Forest, which spans from the first basement floor to the sixth floor above ground.

8 minutes walk from Hamamatsu Station ticket gate.

In the Act Forest that spreads outside Act City Hamamatsu, there are objects and other artworks all over the place, and you can sit on the benches and relax.

Did you know that there is a statue of Chopin in there?

It is also a statue of Chopin that was a direct gift from Warsaw, Chopin’s hometown.

Hamamatsu City concluded a musical and cultural friendship exchange agreement in 1990.

To commemorate the signing, a replica of the famous Chopin statue in Warsaw’s Lazienki Park was presented.

This is the first time in the world that a replica has been made.

Of course, it was also the first in the world to be exported outside of Poland! !

You can see a statue of Chopin that is 2/3 the size of the original.

If you take a photo from the Hamamatsu Station side, you can see the Act City Hamamatsu building and Chopin statue.

You can take a photo unique to the music city, with a collaboration photo of the Act City Hamamatsu building and the Chopin statue.

Act City Hamamatsu also has two spiral staircases. It’s a very photogenic spot.

The spiral staircase near the large hall (Hamamatsu Station side) is vermilion when viewed from below.

The spiral staircase near the Okura Hotel looks green when viewed from below.

It’s nice to take a walk and find photogenic places like this.

It’s fun to take a walk through the Act Forest while looking at the many artworks.

By the way, the walking course takes about 21 minutes if you go around once from the starting point.

It seems that the calorie consumption is 102.4 kcal !

[Drink] Hana no Mai Shuzo's directly managed store

Hana no Mai Sake Brewery’s directly managed store located in EKIMACHIWEST inside Hamamatsu Station.

“Hana no Mai”, a sake brewery representing Hamamatsu.

We recommend taking them as souvenirs from Hamamatsu, but since there are so many types, it can be difficult to decide.

So, wouldn’t it be nice if you could sample the product before purchasing?

At Hana no Mai’s directly managed store in EKIMACHIWEST, there is a tasting set like this.

¥500 for 3 types set

*Prices and set contents are subject to change.

Even though it’s called a tasting, each type is 40ml, so you can really get a feel for the taste. It is recommended that you can purchase your favorite alcohol without making a mistake.

The sake I tried this time was sparkling sake.

Among the five types, apple and blood orange have a low alcohol content for a cool Japanese sake with an alcohol content of 13%.

It has a taste that is easy to get used to even for those who are not good at Japanese sake.

Abysse Sparkling

Sparkling sake made with French Burgundy white wine yeast and rice.

What’s more, we have won the gold award for two years in a row at Kura Master in France, where Japanese food is booming.

It was milky white and had a slightly sweet and fragrant taste, and was very delicious.

Personally, I would recommend it especially for women.

Depending on the season, you may even be able to sample freshly brewed sake.

As a directly operated shop, it also boasts an impressive selection.

[Eat] Sweet potato shop "Imoen"

“Imo-Kashi Ya Imo-en” is a sweet potato specialty store located a 10-minute walk from Hamamatsu Station.

Imo-en, located in Sasamachi in the center of Hamamatsu City, is a specialty store that sells carefully selected sweets made by hand in the shop’s workshop.

This store is constantly developing new products, and in addition to standard products, there are also limited-time sweets, so keep checking back.

Seeing all the sweet potato sweets lined up in the shop window got me excited as I love sweet potatoes.

This time we received ↑ 3 standard products.

This is sweet potato mille-feuille.

The dough will be crispy and crunchy (lol), but it’s absolutely delicious.

We recommend eating on the spot.

After ordering, they put cream on top of the dough and brûlée the surface.

The aroma, the not-too-sweet sweetness of the cream, the crispy texture, and the sweet potato cream inside…

The sweet potato cream inside is homemade sweet potato custard cream.

Since it’s made with sweet potato paste, it has a strong sweet potato aroma and taste that makes you feel happy.

Next up is the honey potato cheese terrine, which is very popular online.

The bottom part is honey sweet potato, the purple part in the middle is purple sweet potato, and the top is a rare cheesecake with sweet potato.

It’s made up of three layers, but each layer has an exquisite taste that makes it even more delicious.

One cut may look small, but it’s moist and satisfying.

Online, it’s a box of honey potato cheese terrine, but in stores

Cut pieces are also available for sale.

By the way, the ones in the box have a brûléed surface.

The third item is potato digging pudding.

The talking spoon is so cute ♡

When you open the lid and insert a scoop spoon, first you’ll see a crunchy caramelization, then a soft pudding, and finally a chunk of cubed sweet potato.

You’ll feel like you’re really digging for sweet potatoes, and you’ll have fun while tasting them.

Since it is a unique sweet, it is also recommended as a souvenir.

For those who want to enjoy sweet potatoes as they are, we also have roasted sweet potatoes.

They sell a variety of products, including Mont Blanc made with eel potatoes, which are becoming Hamamatsu’s new specialty, and sweet potato raw donuts, so if you love sweet potatoes, be sure to stop by.
