Toge no Kunitori Tug-of-War Contest

The fourth Sunday of October

  • Outdoor Activities
  • Other Festivities

This event is a tug-of-war showdown between the Enshu Team (representing Misakubo in Shizuoka) and the Shinshu Team (representing Minami-Shinano in Nagano) with the prefectural boundary at stake. The winning team is able to expand their borders (prefectural boundary) a meter into the opponent’s side. A sign marking the border as determined by the contest is then installed at the pass. However, the border is something decided during the event and is therefore not officially recognized as the administrative border.
