Shointei, a teahouse open to the public, is located in Hamamatsu Castle Park. While tea ceremonies are typically formal, visitors can experience ryureiseki: a style that uses chairs and observes casual manners. The teahouse was designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, the architect of the MoMA New York expansion. It’s no surprise that the building is attractive as well. Additionally, the surrounding garden offers a different scenery year-round. This is an ideal place to enjoy Japanese culture casually.
