Did you know that Hamamatsu ranks first among the 20 largest cities in Japan in terms of the percentage of households that own a pet dog? Since there are many dog lovers, there are naturally many facilities that welcome dogs and other pets. This time, I would like to introduce spots around Hamamatsu and Lake Hamana where you can easily go and play with your dog.
This time we will be traveling with Mr. Iijima’s family who live in Hamamatsu City. My beloved dogs are Siberian Huskies “Ritaro-kun” (left) and “Kotaro-kun” (right).
Ritarou is a gentle and friendly dog who plays well with all dogs. He loves chasing other dogs at the dog park and digging holes.
Kotaro is a spoiled and lonely dog who gets angry and howls when his owner interacts with children. Even though he’s a Siberian Husky, he doesn’t really like walking and is sensitive to the cold.
By the way, both of them love bread.
The group’s first stop was “HAMA & WAN,” which has one of the largest dog fields in the prefecture (6,000 square meters). There is a dog field, a dog cafe, a pool, a pet hotel, and grooming facilities, making it the perfect environment for dogs and their owners.
*If your dog is coming to “HAMA & WAN” for the first time, we will require confirmation of rabies vaccination and combined vaccination.
As soon as the dogs entered the park, they sprinted around the field as if letting out their excitement. As expected, the physical strength of a young Siberian Husky is on a whole other level…
Once the dogs were able to release their excess energy, it was time for lunch. The group headed to a facility called “Yumi’s” located in the Kanzanji area, which is a famous hot spring area in Japan. This is a dog-friendly facility where you can not only enjoy lunch with your dog, but also have a wide selection of dog-specific menus. There’s also a small dog run attached, so you can let your dog run for a bit of exercise after meals. On the premises of “Yumi’s”, they are currently building a “slope dog run (tentative name)”, which is rare in Japan.
Hungry dogs can eat the “reward set” they ordered in less than 30 seconds! Kotaro looks wistfully at the loco moco bowl his owner ordered.
Yumi’s also has an indoor dog run, and many dogs came to play today as well.
After lunch, the group headed to Aqua Pension Cucchetta, where they would be staying for the day. Located on the shores of Lake Hamana, this pension offers the best views and allows you to stay with your pet, as well as serving delicious food.
This time we will be staying in a seaside style room. You can relax with your dog on the balcony while looking out at Lake Hamana, and this room, which also has an open loft, can accommodate pets and up to 7 people.
In addition to the seaside style, Aqua Pension Cucchetta also has antique British style rooms, both of which are special spaces where you can enjoy an extraordinary experience with your dog.
In addition to the ones introduced here, there are many other facilities in Hamamatsu, the city of dog lovers, that welcome dogs. Why not take a trip to Hamamatsu and Lake Hamana to spend some special time with your dog, who is a good partner and family member for humans, and make some wonderful memories?

Sea Lake Report: Walking the Himekaido Road, Kiga-Mikkabi Edition
I decided to walk down Honsaka-dori (commonly known as Hime-kaido), which has been a side street of the Tokaido since ancient times and has been visited by many travelers.
Last time, I walked from the Amma starting point in Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu City to Kiga-shuku in Hamana Ward.
This time, I would like to continue walking from Kiga-juku to Mikkabi-juku.
The atmosphere is different from the section I walked last time, with cobblestone streets and historic sites scattered throughout.
This is a journey where you can feel the vestiges of the past, when many travelers came and went.
I walked around feeling like a person from the past, so I’ll tell you what it was like.
[Hamamatsu/Lake Hamana] Enjoy the zoo and day trip hot spring!
For those who want to enjoy a full day even on a day trip, we would like to introduce a “Zoo & Day Trip Hot Spring Plan” that allows you to enjoy Hamamatsu and Lake Hamana to the fullest.
This time we visited Hamamatsu City Zoo and Hanasaki no Yu, located in the Lake Hamana/Kanzanji area. We will introduce you to the sights to see and how to enjoy them, so please use them to plan your trip during the tourist season.
[Lake Hamana sightseeing] I went around sweets at Lake Oku Hamana!
The two people, wearing Enshu cotton, came to the Tenpaku Iwakura Ruins, which is located within the grounds of Ii Shrine and is known as a power spot near Lake Okuhamana.
This place is also famous as the place associated with Naotora, and a huge stone is enshrined there.
We filmed the opening of Jenne Channel in this sacred place, and today was a day of eating around.
I’m going to go to see the sweets at Lake Okuhamana.
