Ogawa. Camp Field, located in Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a standout campground surrounded by the natural beauty of Ogawa. It was created by revitalizing a former industrial plant site.

It offers a comfortable environment with full Wi-Fi coverage and a variety of experiences that connect visitors with the local community.

It’s a new outdoor hub that connects nature and people, the past and the future.

This time, we visited Ogawa.Camp Field and are excited to share all its great features and charm with you!

What is Ogawa. Camp Field?

Ogawa. Camp Field is a newly opened, highly anticipated campground that had its pre-opening in December 2023!

Ogawa. Camp Field is located on a formerly unused site that was once used as a gravel plant.

Feeling it would be a waste to leave the site unused, the owner, who has experience managing campgrounds locally, decided to develop it into a campsite.

Nestled in the natural surroundings of Ogawa, this site was developed from scratch as a project aimed at regional revitalization and sustainable land use.

In fact, among the management team are members associated with Ogawa no Sato Auto Campground, a beloved site in the same Ogawa area for many years.

Ogawa no Sato Auto Campground suffered severe damage when the Keta River—a first-class river in the Tenryu River system—overflowed due to heavy rains in June 2023, flooding the site with sediment and making continued operation difficult.

However, determined not to lose the management expertise and community connections they had built, they launched Ogawa. Camp Field as a new site to revive and share the charm of camping once again.

Ogawa. Camp Field is also located next to the Ketagawa River.

Its clear flowing river and surrounding mountains create a natural setting that appeals to everyone—from families to solo campers.

Surrounded by trees and with a small stream flowing through, Ogawa. Camp Field offers a rich natural environment that can be enjoyed year-round.

In addition to camping, Ogawa. Camp Field offers plenty of fun activities, including WPL remote control cars, seasonal rafting, and buggy rides.

Now, let’s take a look at the highlights of Ogawa. Camp Field.

A shaded camping experience

Nestled in a quiet forest surrounded by trees, with a gentle stream flowing nearby.

Camping in such a lush natural setting offers many unique charms you can’t experience in everyday life.

The shade provided by the trees softens the summer sunlight, creating a natural retreat that brings coolness and comfort.

By avoiding direct sunlight, you can set up your tent comfortably, making it enjoyable even during the hottest seasons.

The breeze passing through the leaves feels cool, while the rustling foliage, birdsong, and gentle babbling of the stream create a soothing soundtrack.

Additionally, the scent of the forest, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, and the soft feel of the earth beneath your feet combine to create a unique sensory connection with nature—one of the special charms of camping in the shade.

Even during seasons with strong UV rays, the shade provided by the trees offers protection, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for families with children.

Playing in the river and the soothing sounds of flowing water add to the experience, bringing you even closer to nature.

A place where you can escape the daily hustle and bustle and refresh both your mind and body.

That’s the greatest appeal of this campsite, blessed with shade and a babbling stream.

Seasonal Activities

Located right by the Ketagawa River, Ogawa. Camp Field is a popular spot for campers to enjoy water activities in the river from spring through autumn.

In addition, during the summer (June to September, every Saturday), rafting tours are also offered on the Ketagawa River, from the upper stream(around the Lower Shrine of Akiha Shrine, Akiha Bridge) down to the campground.

How about trying paddling with a raft boat or a kayak (packraft)?

WPL remote control cars & Buggy Experience

At Ogawa. Camp Field, you can enjoy off-road remote control cars on the dedicated WPL (RAYWOOD) course, as well as try out buggy rides!

A full-scale dedicated WPL remote control car course is set up within the campground.

It’s quite rare to find a campground surrounded by nature where you can experience driving WPL 4WD remote control cars, making it a special place where outdoor adventure and hobbies come together.

Camping and playing with remote control cars with family and friends during your free time is one of the unique pleasures at Ogawa. Camp Field!

Also, don’t miss the limited-time opportunity to try out buggy rides.

The dynamic ride over natural terrain offers a truly extraordinary experience.

The thrill of racing through the wind and the powerful roar of the engine will surely excite your heart!
